Two things that may seem to be unrelated are often more connected than you think. Life in our conditioned and contrived reality before awakening is the main cause of almost all mental health issues, and the issues themselves are often a pointer to how the construct doesn't serve you. As we suffer we often realise that something is missing or wrong with the world and we get an urge to break free or escape.

Awaekning is the process of breaking free of the conditioning and letting go of the beliefs that hold the construct together.

This article challenges the standard view of addiction, arguing that substances and compulsive behaviours are symptoms of something deeper: the need to escape intolerable triggered thoughts. It explores why common recovery models — including the disease model and identity-based approaches — often leave the root cause untouched, and outlines a consciousness-based path that addresses the underlying beliefs driving the cycle.
