There's something magical happening when people gather with genuine intention. Not the forced networking of conferences or the surface-level socialising of parties, but the deeper coming together that happens when hearts are open and pretence falls away.
This is what we're creating at our first Zen Jungle Community Festival — a weekend where the land itself becomes a stage for connection, creativity, and the simple joy of being together without agenda.
More Than Entertainment
We've watched something beautiful emerge over the months as our community has grown. People arrive carrying the weight of a world that often feels fractured and demanding. Within days, sometimes hours, something shifts. Shoulders drop. Conversations deepen. Laughter becomes more genuine.
The festival is born from this observation — what if we created a space where this natural unfolding could happen for more people, over a concentrated weekend of shared experience?
Community isn't something we build through effort — it's what emerges naturally when the conditions are right and the barriers dissolve.
Picture this: acoustic sessions by the lake as the sun sets, local musicians sharing their craft not for applause but for the pure joy of creation. Workshops that invite participation rather than passive consumption. Food prepared with care and shared at long tables where strangers become friends over honest conversation.
The Land as Our Stage
Our forty acres become transformed — not with artificial stages and barriers, but with thoughtful use of the natural amphitheatres the land provides. The main lake becomes our central gathering space, with its gentle slope creating perfect acoustics for intimate performances. The woodland clearings host smaller workshops and quiet conversations.
Morning might find you in a movement session on the hillside, feeling your body respond to the expansive views across the Devon countryside. Afternoon could see you learning traditional crafts from local artisans, your hands working with clay or wood while your mind settles into the rhythm of creation.
As evening approaches, the fire circles ignite — not just for warmth, but as gathering points where stories are shared, songs emerge spontaneously, and the day's experiences settle into memory through connection with others who were present for the same moments.
Nourishment for Body and Soul
Food becomes ceremony when prepared and shared with intention. Our kitchen team, led by our resident chefs, will create meals from ingredients grown on the land and sourced from local farms. But more than the food itself, it's the act of eating together — unhurried conversations over shared plates, the satisfaction of nourishing our bodies while feeding our connections.
We're planning workshop spaces for those drawn to learn — from permaculture principles to sound healing, from sustainable building techniques to the art of genuine conversation. These aren't performance events but invitations to participate, to contribute your own knowledge and experience to the collective learning.
The Simplicity of Presence
What strikes me most about the festivals I've loved attending is how the best moments often happened in the spaces between — the quiet conversations while walking between venues, the unexpected connections formed while waiting for something to begin, the peace found sitting alone by water while music drifted from across the field.
We're designing our festival around this recognition. There will be plenty of space for nothing — for wandering, for resting, for the unplanned encounters that often become the most meaningful parts of any gathering.
The magic happens not when we're trying to have an experience, but when we're simply present for whatever wants to emerge.
You might find yourself helping with meal preparation, not as a chore but as a meditative practice. Or joining in an impromptu drum circle that emerges naturally around the fire. Or simply lying on the grass, looking up at stars that are actually visible here, away from the city's glow.
An Invitation, Not a Performance
This isn't entertainment you consume but community you participate in creating. We're inviting people who are drawn to genuine connection over surface socialising, who find joy in simplicity, who are curious about what emerges when we gather without the usual social masks.
Whether you stay for the full weekend in one of our cabins, camp under the stars, or join us for day tickets, you're welcome to contribute your own gifts — a song, a skill, a story, or simply your presence and willingness to connect authentically.
The land is ready. The community is growing. The only question is whether you're ready to experience what it feels like when connection happens naturally, without force or pretence. When you remember that this — gathering, sharing, creating together — is actually how humans are meant to live.
Come as you are. Leave feeling more like yourself than when you arrived. Check our What's On page for full details and booking information.
