  • When setting boundaries creates a prison

There is much talk of setting boundaries in the personal growth space and whilst there are transitional benefits there are some significant backwards steps involved too. Understanding the nature of trying to control the outer world to make the inner world feel batter can help with un understanding of the impact. Finding peace and freedom in life is a journey of realisation and a navigation through the subjective ideas that bombard us from all angles. Much of the advice that we recieve takes us backwards in ways that may not always be obvious. As we strip back the nature of ourselves and regain the autonomy to control how we feel inside, we realise that our attempts to control and dictate to the outside world and people in it, leave us fragile and susceptable to offense, disappointment and emotional impact. As we become dependent on the behaviour of others and or become susceptable to our world not meeting our expectations or being predictable, we see that setting expectations and boudaries will always result in constant manipulation of the outer world in order to manage the way we feel inside. Finding true independence and balance allows the outer world to simply be as it is, without a need to control it or the fragility of unexpected or self declared unacceptable happenings taking away the way we feel.

  • A Journey to Stillness: Understanding the Progressive Benefits of Meditation

In today's fast-paced world, where the demands of daily life seem unending, finding moments of peace and tranquility can often feel like a distant dream. The constant chatter of our minds, the worries of tomorrow, and the regrets of yesterday can leave us feeling overwhelmed and anxious. It is in these moments of mental chaos that the power of meditation truly shines. Redirecting the Mind: A Path to Inner Peace Meditation, often misunderstood as a mere ritual, is, in fact, a profound journey that can lead us out of the maze of involuntary thoughts and into a state of permanent, thoughtless presence. At its core, meditation is about redirecting our focus from the incessant stream of thoughts to the gentle flow of sensory inputs that surround us. By doing so, we gradually learn to detach ourselves from the overwhelming importance we assign to our ideas and worries. Overcoming the Tyranny of Overthinking For many of us, overthinking has become a constant companion that robs us of our joy and peace of mind. The practice of meditation offers a powerful antidote to this mental tyranny. By training our minds to focus on the present moment, we learn to let go of the endless loops of rumination and anxiety that plague us. Through meditation, we cultivate a sense of calm and inner balance that allows us to navigate life's challenges with grace and resilience. Embracing Stillness: The Gateway to Mindful Living At its essence, meditation is not just a temporary escape from our thoughts; it is a profound shift in our way of being. As we continue to practice mindfulness, we gradually cultivate a state of inner stillness that transcends the ebb and flow of everyday distractions. This state of mindful presence allows us to engage more fully with the world around us, savoring each moment with a sense of clarity and gratitude. Finding Peace Within: The Transformative Power of Meditation In a world that celebrates busyness and productivity, the art of doing nothing—of simply being—can feel revolutionary. Yet, it is in these moments of quiet contemplation that we unearth the true essence of our being. Meditation offers us a gateway to reconnect with our inner selves, shedding the layers of stress and anxiety that weigh us down. It is a practice that invites us to slow down, breathe deeply, and listen to the whispers of our soul. Cultivating a Daily Practice: Nurturing the Seeds of Serenity To reap the full benefits of meditation, consistency is key. By dedicating even a few minutes each day to sit in stillness, we gradually rewire our brains to embrace peace and tranquility as our natural state of being. Whether it's through guided meditations, focused breathing exercises, or silent contemplation, the path to mindfulness is as unique as we are. The journey begins with a single breath, a single moment of presence that blossoms into a lifetime of inner calm. Embracing the Journey: Your Path to Mindful Living As you embark on your meditation journey, remember that it is not about attaining perfection or achieving a specific outcome. It is about showing up for yourself, honoring your inner wisdom, and embracing the beauty of each moment. Allow the practice of meditation to be your anchor in the storm, your beacon of light in the darkness. With each breath, with each mindful step, you move closer to the heart of stillness that resides within you. In a world that often pushes us to the brink of exhaustion and burnout, meditation stands as a sanctuary of peace and renewal. Through its gentle guidance, we discover the infinite well of serenity that lies dormant within us, waiting to be awakened. So, take a deep breath, close your eyes, and embark on this transformative journey to stillness. The path may be winding, but the destination is one of profound joy and liberation. Let meditation and becoming progressively more thoughtless be your compass, guiding you back to the essence of who you are—a being of light, love, and boundless potential with no past and no future other than in the subjective world of your thoughts.

  • Dissolving Sadness! When dependency meets loss it's a signal to regain your independence.

Understanding the nature of sadness Sadness is a universal human experience, often deeply felt and challenging to navigate. It emerges from a complex interplay of emotions, thoughts, and life circumstances. At its core, sadness often stems from a principle that many of us may not fully recognize: the externalization of our happiness into things outside of ourselves. This externalization creates a dependency, a tethering of our emotional state to factors beyond our control. When these external sources of happiness are lost or disrupted, sadness inevitably follows. Externalizing Happiness: The Root of Dependency From a young age, we are conditioned to seek happiness in the world around us. We learn to associate joy with external achievements, possessions, and relationships. This pattern of thinking leads to the belief that our happiness is contingent upon external circumstances. We find ourselves saying, "I will be happy when..."—when we get the promotion, when we buy the house, when we find the perfect partner. However, this externalization of happiness is a double-edged sword. While it can provide temporary satisfaction, it also places our emotional well-being at the mercy of factors we cannot control. This creates a dependency, making us vulnerable to the ebb and flow of life's uncertainties. The Dependency Roller Coaster When we externalize our happiness, we inadvertently step onto a roller coaster of dependency. Our emotional state rises and falls with the presence or absence of the external factors we rely on. For instance, when a cherished relationship ends, a job is lost, or a beloved possession is broken, the loss of these external supports can plunge us into profound sadness. This dependency can manifest in various aspects of life: Relationships: We may become dependent on a partner for our sense of worth and happiness. When that relationship changes or ends, it can feel as though our source of joy has been ripped away. Material Possessions: Consumerism teaches us that acquiring things can bring happiness. Yet, the loss or absence of these possessions can leave us feeling empty and dissatisfied. Achievements: We often tie our self-esteem to our accomplishments. Failing to achieve a goal or losing a job can trigger feelings of inadequacy and sadness. Experiences: We might believe that happiness lies in travel, adventures, or certain lifestyles. When these experiences are unattainable, our happiness can seem out of reach. The Path to Independence: Reclaiming Our Emotional State To dissolve sadness, it is essential to reclaim our independence and take responsibility for our own emotional state. This involves a fundamental shift in perspective—recognizing that true happiness comes from within, rather than from external sources. Steps to Regaining Independence: Self-Awareness: Begin by identifying the areas in your life where you have externalized your happiness. Acknowledge the dependencies and how they impact your emotional state. Mindfulness: Practice mindfulness to become more aware of your thoughts and feelings. This helps in recognizing when you are relying on external factors for happiness. Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and understanding. Recognize that it is natural to seek happiness externally, but it is also within your power to change this habit. Internal Validation: Shift your focus to internal sources of validation. Cultivate self-acceptance and appreciate your intrinsic worth, independent of external achievements or possessions. Resilience Building: Strengthen your emotional resilience by embracing challenges and viewing them as opportunities for growth. This helps in reducing dependency on external stability. The Misconception of Robotic Detachment Some might argue that this approach promotes a robotic detachment from life, stripping away the richness of human experience. However, this perspective misunderstands the true essence of emotional independence. By reclaiming control over our emotional state, we are not detaching from life but rather engaging with it more fully and authentically. We free ourselves from the constant anxiety of losing external sources of happiness and instead cultivate a stable, enduring sense of well-being. Challenging Societal Norms Our society often reinforces the pattern of externalizing happiness. Consumerism tells us that buying things will make us happy. The media portrays relationships as the ultimate source of fulfillment. Fitness and health trends suggest that our appearance dictates our self-worth. Challenging these societal norms requires conscious effort and a willingness to redefine our understanding of happiness. Embracing True Happiness Sadness, then, can be seen as a signal—a reminder that we have placed our emotional well-being in the hands of external factors. By recognizing this, we can begin the journey toward reclaiming our independence. True happiness is not about detachment from life but about engaging with it from a place of inner stability and self-sufficiency. When we no longer depend on external circumstances to dictate our emotional state, we find a deeper, more resilient happiness that cannot be easily shaken by the inevitable changes and losses of life. In essence, the path to dissolving sadness lies in taking back responsibility for how we feel and understanding that we alone have the power to create and sustain our happiness.

  • Mental health issues are often a path to realisation and to awaken to the truth of our unlimited existence.

Two things that may seem to be unrelated are often more connected than you think. Life in our conditioned and contrived reality before awakening is the main cause of almost all mental health issues, and the issues themselves are often a pointer to how the construct doesn't serve you. As we suffer we often realise that something is missing or wrong with the world and we get an urge to break free or escape. Awaekning is the process of breaking free of the conditioning and letting go of the beliefs that hold the construct together.

  • What is awakening and why it changes everything?

Awakening has become a more common concept but not without some confusion. What does it mean to awaken and how does it change your life? This video will discuss what it looks like to both see and break free of our life-long conditioning and limiting belief structure, and will cover what happens on the other side.

  • As we externalise our happiness, it's the end of sustainable joy

One of the most impactful effects on our lives is the move to finding our joy and happiness in people, places and things outside of ourselves. This transfer of control and responsibility away from our inner being to becoming dependent on externalities can drive a life-long seacrh for a series of external things in the hope they will bring joy. Once our joy is produced by externalities, we become dependent on those externalities to sustain it. The route back to permanent joy, happiness and peace is to regain control of our state of being, realising that while happiness is being supplied by externalities it is no longer under our own control.

  • Understanding ADHD: A Holistic Perspective with True Causes, and Solutions

The explosion in mental health labels In recent years, there has been a significant rise in the diagnosis of various behavioral patterns within the mental health industry. This trend often involves compartmentalizing behaviors, assigning them labels, and encouraging individuals to identify with these conceptual tags. While each human being is unique, the mental health industry tends to generalize behavioral patterns, providing names that can sometimes lead to an unhealthy self-identification with a specific label. The nature of ADHD ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is commonly characterized by patterns of easy distraction, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. However, it is crucial to recognize that these patterns result from a combination of subjective ideas and thought triggers accumulated throughout an individual's life. These triggers react to external experiences, such as sights, sounds, and other sensory inputs, driving actions, reactions, and behaviors. The mechanism of the mind Humans accumulate polarized views on nearly everything, forming ideas, beliefs, and opinions through judgment. These subjective views often become mistaken for truths and act as triggers that influence thoughts, actions, and behaviors. ADHD, like many other mental health labels, results from this mechanism of the mind. The accumulation of ideas and beliefs creates a storm of thought triggers, leading to distraction and behavioral patterns associated with ADHD. The role of thought triggers ADHD presents as a pattern of easy distraction, which is based on the number, nature, and combination of active thought triggers. A trigger responds to any experience in the outside world, including visuals, sounds, words, smells, and other sensory sensations. The accumulation of the ideas that drive the trigger dictates the ease of distraction and movement into thought, which causes reactions and behaviors. Identifying with labels While ADHD is now a common label and "owned" pattern by many who are diagnosed with it and identify with it, the truth is that its cause is far more easily resolved than one might expect. The clinical fraternity may choose to medicate it, but there is little or no holistic basis for that based on the true cause. Holistic causes and solutions The root cause of ADHD lies in the attachment to ideas and beliefs that drive thought triggers. These attachments are purely informational and are accumulated arbitrarily over time. The level of importance and truth assigned to these attachments dictates their reactiveness as triggers. Holistic solutions to ADHD involve understanding and addressing the mind's mechanism of attachment and thought triggers. This process includes: Sensory Redirection and Mindfulness: Learning to redirect sensory input and practicing mindfulness helps in becoming consciously aware of thoughts and repeatedly removing attention from them. This reduces the impact of triggers and fosters a state of inner peace. Self-Inquiry and Realization: Engaging in self-inquiry reveals the underlying attachments and beliefs that drive behavioral patterns. By examining and dissolving these attachments, individuals can move beyond labels like ADHD and discover their true, peaceful selves. Committed Practice: Regularly practicing mindfulness and sensory redirection is essential. This consistent effort leads to the dissolution of triggers, allowing individuals to gain control over their thoughts and actions. The broader implications for mental health The mental health crisis can be attributed to a lack of understanding of the mind's mechanism. Many behavioral patterns, including ADHD, are managed symptomatically rather than addressing the root cause. By exploring the mind's mechanism and embracing holistic solutions, individuals can transform their perspectives, behaviors, and overall mental well-being. Moving to the cause and away from mental health symptoms ADHD, like many other mental health labels, is a pattern driven by the accumulation of ideas, beliefs, and thought triggers. Understanding and addressing the mind's mechanism through mindfulness, sensory redirection, and self-inquiry offers a holistic solution. By taking control of attachments and thoughts, individuals can move beyond labels and discover their true, peaceful selves, free from the constraints of mental health issues. Embracing this journey of self-realization can lead to profound transformations and a deeper understanding of who we are at our core, causing the chain reaction of self realisation and spiritual awakening. Looking at societal life and mental health The truth of life and what it has currently become for most humans on the planet, is that we have an incredibly high effort task of managing where we fit, success, who we should be, what we should do, figuring out how to gain meaning, and the endless chase for what will bring us happiness or peace. Our current structure of human existence creates endless challenges and fuels endless thought and strategisation of what to be, do and have to make it all work. It means that the accumulation of ideas, beliefs and attachments has become compulsive in the hope that we can find the magical answer to what will bring us happiness and peace. Mental health patterns are all related to that effect. They are the outcomes of both trying to manage it all, and for many trying to escape it all. They are the result of how it feels to accumulate a broad range of perspectives and opinions on almost every area of life and to become submerged in the way those perspectives feel. In addition, the level of success or fail;ure that we percieve we are having when compared to others, and the expectations we set for ourselves creates a storm of self opinions. Most of them negative. It is here when we look at the nature and construct for human life itself, that should be the driver of the questions around why mental health is the explosion it is. As we take a step back and look at the ever more contrived lives we lead, driven by comparison and competetion, chasing and avoidance that we start to notice that the symptoms are unsurprising, because the nature of life has ceased to serve the peace of the human soul.

  • Take back your Freedom - Simplifying common law to take life-changing, decisive action.

The talk that will change your life by exposing that nobody (including government) has authority over you and you are not obliged to comply or pay unless you choose to. So much has happened with the world in the years since we arrived at the retreat and in the years leading up to our arrival here. In that time, our journey of self discovery and awakening has also revealed that there is a "real" world that is tangibly different to the one we have all accepted and been conditioned to accept since we were born. It turns out that in the "real" world we are all totally free. Free of rules made up by other people and groups, free of onerous obligations to comply and free of what may seem like an unavoidable need to pay taxes, penalties and fines. This talk will show the simplicity of how the system works and how you have been deceaved, mislead, coerced and threatened unlawfully as a matter of routine by self proclaimed authorities who have no power unless you knowingly hand it to them, which of course you haven't by the way. In a chaotic world now rife with wars, corruption, the threat of ai taking almost all the jobs, a financial system on the brink of collapse and government spending way past out of control or representative of the will of most people, the question of are we taking instructions from and why is huge. Who is driving the global decisions and why is my hard earned money being used for purposes I would never choose. This moment is historical and it is huge. It has made visible what was previously unseen and that visibility grows on a daily basis. This talk will help you to both see the truth and to understand the nature of the system that has been conditioned into global populations for generations. It will uncover that you are free and it will enable you to make choices you didn't even know you had, and safely. This is the beginning of a process to take back your birthright and change your standard of living forever. Space is limited to 10 people to allow for discussions. The talk will be around 2 hours to include discussions and will be repeated regularly, so if this date is not for you, check back soon.

  • To all the mothers out there, you're doing a great job!

Bodhi is six months old now and I often can't believe how quickly the time has flown, despite some nights dragging on for what at the time felt like forever. This last half a year of my life has offered me many insights and lessons that you can only gain through the gift of raising a child. There are many things I would like to share and hopefully will do over the coming weeks, but this post is here as a reminder to all the mothers out there that you are doing an excellent job, no matter what. A good friend of mine freebirthed her baby girl almost 3 weeks ago and we spent some time catching up yesterday. We spoke about how disconnected we are as a society and how children these days are born and raised in isolated bubbles with no sense of community support. Through our Zen Mamas circle, we are beginning to make changes and create our own community network so we can return to a time where mothers and children are supported through birth, postpartum, education and beyond and are empowered to mother in a natural way. In the meantime, through our own postpartum experiences, we are in a state of limbo, trying to understand what it means to be a mother without a huge amount of guidance to show us the way. One example of how this has manifested for me is through breastfeeding. I am exclusively breastfeeding Bodhi and wouldn't have it any other way, but I have struggled to make enough milk for a few months now until recently. It's only when my own mother came to visit and fed me with huge amounts of homemade stew that my milk supply shot straight back up and I realised that the key to milk production is in nourishing myself as consciously as I do Bodhi. In a community oriented world where groups of mothers of all ages supported each other, this is the kind of wisdom that would be shared freely without having to muddle through sub optimally. Likewise, when my friend struggled with the pain of feeding in her first few days postpartum, I was able to offer suggestions that helped me because we have created this nurturing relationship through our Zen Mamas circle where we support each other. Nonetheless, an experience we have both encountered is other peoples willingness and readiness to judge. As is the nature with running a business like Zen Jungle, we are very familiar with judgement and the way it grips people. Our purpose here is to enlighten people to see their own judgements and how they create limitation, and show them a path out of it, one which leads to a life of happiness and fulfilment. Most of the time, we are pretty good at disregarding judgement, understanding it is not a reflection of the true being, simply their lifetime of conditioning. But it comes thick and fast when you're a parent, with everyone casting their opinion on how you should raise and care for your own child, even if they have never had one themselves. It's easy to take these judgements on board when you're sore from the experience of birth and still healing, exhausted from countless nights of broken sleep and somewhat disoriented from the shock of having to care for another being 24/7, with little break for even the simple things like having a shower, cleaning your teeth or doing the washing. So here is your precious reminder that your instinct as a mother is the only thing you need. Everyone will have an opinion on your parenting, but there is a reason that your child chose you as their mummy. You are connected in a way that nobody else on this planet could ever truly comprehend, because you are the one that brought this life earthside. You are the one who knows how to care for them, love them and keep them safe. You know what is right for your baby and how to guide them and show them the way. You are the only authority you need to look towards. And if you ever feel yourself wobbling and crave the support of people who get it, Zen Mamas cirlce is here for you. At any stage of your mothering journey. We are a group of mothers who understand that there is no right or wrong way, but that the support we can offer each other with a listening ear and a loving hug is priceless. Our next cirlce is 25th April, 10.30am, where we will be hosting a specialist in reflexology and holistic health. Sandra will be talking to us about how we can help and support our children and ourselves using natural methods, as well as providing advice on nutrition for children and breastfeeding mothers. If you want to join us, you can book your space here (members get 20% off): https://www.zenjungle.org/event-details/motherhood-circle-reflexology-2024-04-25-10-30
