Half Day Poetry Retreat: Letters to the Beautiful Things

Lately I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to rush past the good parts — the soft moments, the ordinary miracles, the things that make life gentle and worth living. We remember to worry, to plan, to fix — but not always to notice.

So I’m hosting a half-day poetry retreat here at Zen Jungle on Saturday 22nd November, 10am - 1pm:

Letters to the Beautiful Things

No experience is needed — truly. You don’t have to “be a writer” to come. You just have to want a slow morning where you can breathe, sit in a warm room with a log burner and a view of the countryside, drink tea, and write in peace.

We’ll explore poetry through the simplest and most human form — the letter. Letters to ourselves. Letters to the people who shaped us. Letters to the everyday beautiful things that keep us alive and soft.

I’ll bring a printed bundle of uplifting poems to read together, to get the room into that tender, attentive place where words start arriving. Then I’ll guide you through a few fun and gentle warm up exercises before we start with three writing prompts. You leave with the bones of three new poems of your own that you can continue working on in your own time. Sharing is optional — you can write quietly and privately the entire time if you wish.

We’ll finish gently, and there will be an optional WhatsApp group for anyone who wants to stay connected and keep writing in community afterwards.

This retreat is for beginners and seasoned writers alike. For anyone craving stillness, reflection, and a reminder that there is still beauty — even now, even here.

Spaces will be kept intentionally small so the room stays intimate and held.

If this sounds like something your nervous system, your creativity, or your heart is asking for — I would love to write with you.
